Wisconsin SSI state payment

Wisconsin adds a state payment on top of a federal SSI payment. There is no separate application. Any federal SSI payment brings the maximum state payment. If the federal payment stops, the state payment stops too.

Who gets it

You get the state payment only if you qualify for a federal SSI payment. A small group still gets the state payment they qualified for in December 1995. That group is the exception. Everyone else needs a federal SSI payment of any amount.

The figures below are the maximums as of May 2026. Other income can lower the federal payment. It does not lower the state payment while any federal SSI payment continues. These amounts are not a payment Inaya can promise.

The extra SSI-E payment

SSI-E is not paid to everyone. A county agency has to certify it. When it does, $105.59 is added to the state payment for one person, and $379.90 is added for a couple. That is why the state column on the SSI-E row is $197.75 for one person and $525.16 for a couple. The totals on that row are $1,191.75 and $2,016.16.

Caretaker Supplement

Caretaker Supplement is a cash benefit for a parent who gets Wisconsin SSI and is caring for a minor child who is not on SSI. It is $275 a month for the first eligible child and $165 for each additional eligible child. It is not a payment for every family, and it is not a benefit for an adult child.

If you live in Illinois, this state payment is not the Illinois rule. Illinois uses its own medical application.
