For families in the Center DC community

When someone you love is struggling, you don't have to figure it out alone.

If a loved one is living with serious mental illness, Inaya helps your family build a crisis plan, find financial resources for the future, and make sense of a system that was never built for families.

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ۝ إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

So truly, with hardship comes ease. Truly, with hardship comes ease.
SURAH ASH-SHARH 94:5–6

Is this for my family?

Inaya is for you if any of this sounds familiar:

  • You don't know what to do the next time things get bad.
  • You're worried about money, and about who will care for them in the future.
  • You've told your story to too many offices and still don't have answers.
  • You've been carrying this quietly, and you're tired.

I support families whose loved one lives with

  • Schizophrenia
  • Schizoaffective disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Major depression
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • PTSD
  • Addiction

Whether the diagnosis is new or you've been carrying it for years.

How I help your family

Your chaplain cares for the spirit. A therapist cares for the mind. I help the family hold everything around it.

A crisis plan before the next hard day

Warning signs, who to call, which hospital, what to say. Written down while things are calm, so no one is guessing in the moment.

Financial resources for the future

Benefits, insurance, and long-term planning, so you know your loved one will be cared for, even after you can't do it yourself.

A guide through the system

Hospitals, providers, and paperwork explained in plain language. In the spirit of Center DC's "Break It Down," no jargon, so you can advocate for the person you love.

How it works

Three steps. You can stop at any point.

  1. 01

    Reach out

Book a time below or email me. You can also ask Center DC's Care Team to introduce us.

  2. 02

    We talk for an hour

On video or by phone. You tell me what's happening, in your own words, at your own pace. Come as you are: we'll talk like old friends.

  3. 03

You leave with a written plan

Clear next steps your family keeps, so you know exactly what to do next.

لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا

Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.
SURAH AL-BAQARAH 2:286

And you don't have to carry it alone. Asking for help is part of caring for the person you love.

I sit where you sit

I understand how deeply faith shapes the way a family talks about illness, and how often shame keeps them quiet.

I'm part of the Center DC community too. Here, you can talk about your loved one without being judged, and without being asked to set your faith aside.

When my brother started struggling, my family was completely paralyzed. We are a family of doctors, my brother among them, and still, for too many years, door after door shut on us. We kept hearing, "That's not my job." So I built Inaya to meet families where mine was: within Islamic guidance, and with an understanding of our culture and community.

So families like ours have an answer, I trained as a NAMI facilitator, peer support specialist, and certified crisis specialist to learn the system from the inside.

May Allah (SWT) increase your barakah, and shower you and your loved one with His infinite mercy, peace, and hope.

Questions families ask

Will anyone at Center DC know what I share?

No. Like Center DC's Vegas Rule, what you share stays here. If you want the Care Team involved, that is your choice.

Is this therapy?

No. This is practical support for the family: planning, resources, and next steps. I work alongside your loved one's care, not in place of it.

My loved one doesn't want help. Can I still reach out?

Yes. Many families start here. The Session is for you, the person carrying it.

Will my faith be respected?

Always. As Center DC reminds us, we're all at different places on our spiritual journey. Bring your faith into the conversation as much or as little as you want.
